The POWER to STOP any task or operation when Health and Safety are at risk.

We know all accidents are preventable and we have a duty of care to ensure our own safety and the safety of others. All employees, regardless of position, seniority, or discipline, have the authority and obligation to stop any task or operation where concerns or questions regarding the control of health and safety risks exist.

• If you think someone is acting in an unsafe manner, you have the authority to ask them to STOP.
• If you you cannot complete a job safely, STOP work immediately and notify your supervisor.

The 3 Checks for Safety is a core component of risk management in our workplace linked to our Stop Work Authority. If the answer to any of the 3 Checks is NO, we must stop work and make the situation safe.
