Moving Forward Together: Our New Reconciliation Action Plan

Moving Forward Together: Our New Reconciliation Action Plan

We recently launched our September 2025 – August 2028 Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) at our 2026 Leadership Conference. This is a proud moment for all of us at Sodexo.

The launch event took place on the sacred lands of the Whadjuk Peoples of the Noongar nation and began with a Welcome to Country by Noongar Elder, Dr. Richard Walley AO. It was attended by Reconciliation Australia CEO Karen Mundine, along with Sodexo leaders, clients, and community partners like Reconciliation WA, Ngarluma Yindjibarndi Foundation Ltd, Cowboys Community Foundation, and Foodbank WA. This gathering highlighted that reconciliation is a shared effort built on truth, accountability, and lasting partnerships.

We have been on a journey of reconciliation for more than 15 years. While we have made good progress, we know there is always more to do. Our new plan challenges us to go further.

The Story Behind the Artwork

You will see stunning new artwork tied to this plan. Wayne Davis, an Aboriginal Elder, Cultural Lore Man, and valued member of our Indigenous Affairs team, created it.

His piece, ‘Healthy People, Healthy Country’, celebrates the deep link between people, place, and wellbeing. Wayne explains the art beautifully: The painting shows movement, which means growth and nourishment. The kangaroo and emu represent a healthy Country. The lines show we’re all moving forward together.

The central circles reflect our connection with people and communities. We see this connection through local programs where bush foods and farm produce come together to build a healthier, shared future.

What This Means for You

Your hands-on work drives our success. Whether you are preparing meals, keeping our sites secure, or maintaining facilities, you help create thriving, connected communities. This RAP is our promise to turn our beliefs into measurable actions, bringing us closer to a more reconciled Australia for all.

We can all be more culturally aware and respectful. Let’s listen and be ready to learn from our Indigenous people their stories, customs, and traditions. Let’s understand the challenges they face on a daily basis, work biases, and let’s be an active bystander – interfere when something feels wrong, speak up when there’s harmful behaviour.

National Reconciliation Week is right around the corner. Let us all participate actively and make Sodexo Australia a place that exemplifies a sense of belonging for everyone. If you want to know how you can contribute to our reconciliation efforts on site, talk to your village manager.
