Patty goes from the Pilbara to Paris!

Chef Patty, based in the remote Pilbara region of Western Australia, was selected to represent Sodexo Australia on the global stage at one of the world’s most prestigious sporting events in Paris.
Representing Sodexo and Australia on the Global Stage
Chef Patty was one of only 20 international chefs chosen to cook for athletes from 206 National Olympic Committees. Working in the bustling athletes’ village in Paris, he helped serve up to 40,000 meals a day, ensuring every athlete’s dietary needs were met.
Based at the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris with his German teammate, Chef Patty took on the dynamic energy of the main dining hall at Cité du Cinéma in Saint-Denis, which seated 3,500 diners. Together, they managed lunch and dinner operations across multiple outlets catering to French, Halal, Asian, and international cuisines. He describes the experience as “demanding but deeply rewarding.”
A Culinary and Cultural Exchange
The vibrant atmosphere of the athletes’ village offered a unique opportunity for cultural exchange. Surrounded by teams from around the world, Chef Patty not only shared his passion for food but also experienced the culinary traditions of different nationalities. “The energy and diversity were incredible—it’s something I’ll never forget,” he shared.
Strict privacy rules ensured athletes could relax and enjoy their meals in peace, but the camaraderie among the chef team left a lasting impression. “It reminded me of how food connects us, no matter where we come from,” he added.
A Magical Moment in Paris
Between the hectic schedules and fast-paced kitchen environments, Chef Patty was able to take a brief moment to savour the beauty of Paris. One of the highlights? A Seine River cruise at sunset. “Seeing the city’s landmarks light up as the night fell was simply magical,” he recalls.
