ERA celebrates new HVAC Apprentice

Congratulations to Shane O’Donnell for having recently secured a full-time Air-conditioning Refrigeration Apprenticeship with the Sodexo ERA team!

Shane has been working with Sodexo since 2018 as grounds person with the ERA team. While working within the grounds team, Shane has maintained an interest in the Electrical and Air-conditioning refrigeration trade. After brief exposure to an Electrical Apprenticeship after school, Shane was keen to pursue trade training with a large, reputable company like Sodexo. HVAC supervisors, Ted Pederson and Dylan Merkl, are thrilled to take on the responsibility of mentoring and delivering on-the-job skill development for Shane.

The Certificate III Air-conditioning Refrigeration comprises competencies to install, set up, test, fault find, repair and maintain refrigeration systems and equipment applicable to food storage, air conditioning and air distribution equipment in buildings, as well as the inclusion of regulatory requirements for purchasing and handling refrigerants. Theoretical studies will commence in semester two at Charles Darwin University Casuarina, NT where Shane will be attending structured block release training.

Huge congratulations to Shane on his Apprenticeship commencement – we wish him all the very best with the next stage of his career.
