WasteLESS Week Water for Life
Promoting WasteLESS Week during October is part of Sodexo’s Better Tomorrow strategy, with a commitment to eliminate avoidable waste by 2025. Raising awareness and influencing the behaviors of our customers and employees is a critical component of how we will achieve this target. Sodexo is dedicated to increasing sustainability performance at client sites in four key areas — carbon and energy, water, waste, and healthy and sustainable food and environments.
In line with this, The team at Ready Creek together with Origin are increasing awareness of water consumption with ‘Water for Life’. Water for Life encourages positive behaviours around water use, educating customer and employees with signage at all water sources on site (washing machines, drink dispensers, ice rooms, kitchenettes).
To raise additional awareness to the scarcity of water as a resource, the team ran a 6 week fundraising campaign on site to address drought affecting Australian farmers. Incorporating ‘Parma for a Farmer’ as an additional menu option in the dining room, the catering team donated $1 for every parma sold to the Buy a Bale Campaign. The Health & Lifestyle team capped off the fundraising efforts with a very successful Trivia Night event.
In total, the team and residents at Reedy Creek have raised a total of $1379.40 which will be matched by Origin to increase total donation to $2758.80 to support local farmers. The money will be donated to the Drought Angels.
“It is a great feeling to know the little things we do make all the difference. We can give support to local communities while doing the right thing for the environment.” – Nadine Vater, Sodexo Reedy Creek Lead– Origin Project
