Sodexo helps lead waste reduction at sea

Waste is one of our biggest collective challenges. Tackling it is critical to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, protecting land and water, and improving livelihoods everywhere we operate. As part of our Better Tomorrow 2025 commitments, we’re also committed to reducing waste beyond our own operations.

With our waste management expertise, we’re helping clients do their part. We’re always finding new ways to cut waste in the services we deliver to our clients and focusing on the role we play as a global leader in waste reduction.

There has already been great progress on Sodexo’s client sites. The Sodexo team on board Shell Prelude was recently recognised for playing an integral part in waste reduction on board the facility from Aug’17 to June’18. Since arrival of the Prelude FLNG in Australian waters in August last year, we’ve continued to reduce waste production in total volume as well as total volume to landfill while doubling recycling, and eliminating treated waste all together.

“Waste management is probably one of the most underrated services with not a lot of visibility, and from time to time, a thankless task. And yet, it is one of the most important and most critical work streams to keep Prelude running. You’ve driven performance with great professionalism, gusto and enthusiasm! Thanks to your persistence and conviction to drive the right social behaviour, we have achieved the best waste management performance and the highest level of recycled waste to date. A big thank you and I’m sure it will spur us to improve our performance even more!” – Shan Seah, Logistics Manager, Shell Australia Pty
