Outstanding performance and conduct at Boddington

Earlier this month, Sodexo Electrician Daniel Berndt and Plumber Brody Culpitt received the Vital Behaviours Champion Award for August from Newmont HR Manager Stephen Cole (pictured above). They also received awards from Sodexo for outstanding performance and conduct.

The awards were presented for their quick thinking and safe behaviour during a truck crash on Gold Mine Rd, Boddington (near Boddington Village) when one truck drove into the back of the other.

The driver of the truck behind was trapped inside the cabin with a broken leg and the accelerator pedal was stuck down with the engine revving. Daniel and Brody managed to isolate the engine by stuffing a vest into the engine’s air intake and disconnecting the fuel line, preventing a potential fire and possibly very dangerous situation.

Congratulations to Daniel and Brody and keep up the good (and safe) work!
