Tip top efforts by the Pannawonica Town tip shop!
Every day, Sodexo employees are engaging in continued actions that reduce waste as part of our corporate commitment to our environment and sustainable practices locally.
Since the tip shop opened in October 2015, they have raised over $3000 from donated items as well as items found and salvaged from disposed waste. Reductions in the amount of waste going into landfill quite has been quite considerable. At the same time, the tip shop’s recycling efforts have raised much needed funds for a worthy cause – The Royal Flying Doctor Service, serving rural and remote areas across Australia.
“The last 2 tins we put in raised over $1600 alone and we have a tin nearly ready to be handed in again.” Steve Ryding, Landfill operator, Pannawonica town tip shop
The Royal Flying Doctor Service provides aeromedical care to Australia’s furthest corners so that anyone who lives, works or travels in remote and rural Australia has access to medical care. The RFDS is delivered by a dedicated team of professionals and supported by a vast number of volunteers and supporters, the RFDS is vital for those that live, work and travel in rural and remote Australia.
The Pannawonica tip shop team chose to donate to this cause because, by working at a rural mine site, RFDS is a very valuable service that can save lives and deserves our continued support.
