In support of Sodexo’s mission to improve quality of life, Stop Hunger and Sodexo’s annual Servathon sees employees worldwide lend a helping hand every year to local charity groups and hunger relief organisations.

Foodbank Australia is one the many global non-profit organisations Sodexo supports each year to strive towards a world free of hunger.

We would like to recognise the efforts of our Perth Support Centre volunteers who recently assisted by packaging frozen food hampers at Foodbank’s warehouse in Perth on Thursday 28th July. Well done to our team for managing to pack 9 cage palettes of hampers – weighing a total of 3240kg!  A great team effort and a significant contribution to supporting our local community in Perth.

Our volunteers worked in two groups, with one group working the morning shift and second group in the afternoon. Throughout the 6 hour window, our teams packed mixed frozen food hampers. The hampers included a variety of fish, meat, poultry and other frozen food items.  Valued at $60, the hampers are made available to low income families in Foodbank’s retail outlet for a purchase price of $10.

I’ve personally supported Sodexo’s Stop Hunger initiatives for many years and I feel it is important we take time to consider and support the local communities in which we operate. Our volunteering day at Foodbank was a great way to support the initiatives Foodbank have in place to reduce food waste and make food provisions available to those in need but was also a great way of highlighting those programs that are at the heart of Sodexo’s DNA to new employees. Not only was the experience rewarding to know we, as a company, are giving something back to the community, but was also a great platform for building relationships with our wider team members in Perth.”
