Men’s Shed Barbeque
In collaboration with Moranbah & District Support Services, the Sodexo team at Moranbah engaged with the local community to support the local Men’s Shed. The team put on a BBQ held at the local town square to raise awareness of the Men’s Shed within the community.
The Moranabah Men’s Shed provides a weekly opportunity for men to get together and take part in meaningful work and activities, it has been a meeting place for local men and also FIFO workers since 2015.
Aligned with Sodexo’s vision to improve quality of life, there are social, emotional and other benefits to men who participate in these organisations, as well as positive effects for partners, families and wider community. Social connection, community interaction and volunteerism has also been shown to be important factors for good mental health. These programs and events support the local community and district support services with a focus on engaging residents through community-based activities that contribute to the quality of life and livability of Moranbah.
On behalf of Moranbah and District Support Services and the Connecting Communities, I would like to thank you for your generous donations and support to our Moranbah Men’s Shed, Senior Connect Programs, and Multicultural programs. – Kimberly Lehto-Head, Connecting Communities Coordinator, Moranbah District
