King of the Mountain
27 July 2017
After a four year hiatus, The King of the Mountain race has finally made its return to the Mt Nameless Festival in the Western Australian Pilbara region, organised in part by Sodexo’s Health & Lifestyle program, wellness advisors Chris Smith and HLC team. The local community rallied around the return of the race with great energy and enthusiasm.
The Mt Nameless Festival entertained the community of Tom Price with a myriad of events, entertainment, and good food. In conjunction with the Mt Nameless festival, the client, and the Shire of Ashburton, Sodexo ensured that the King of the Mountain race was executed successfully and a highlight to cap off a fantastic festival this year.
“We had a great turnout with 55 competitors taking part in the race – all completing the course in a safe manner without incident or injury. Second place was amazingly won by one of the Under 15 boys at only ten years old, wow!“ – Chris Smith, Wellness Advisor
A celebratory post-race BBQ was organised by Sodexo and held at The Windawarri Lodge, featuring Sodexo’s signature great food, entertainment and plenty of banter, with around 65 people in attendance.
The Sodexo team decided to contribute all donations from the day to a local fund raising effort that is supporting a family impacted by a recent road tragedy.
“I am truly humbled by the work of some of our teams. These selfless acts are not done for recognition, in many cases, they are not communicated outside of the local area, but because our people genuinely care.” – Gareth Ellis, IFMS Account Director
